Formed in 1989 by a group of keen paddlers, the Sydney Outrigger Canoe Club (SOCCI) was the first ever outrigger club in New South Wales. Since then, the club has gone from strength to strength, establishing itself as a dominant force in outrigger canoeing.
Based at Balmoral Beach on the northern side of Sydney Harbour, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better location. Not only do we have one of the most picturesque training grounds in the world, but proximity to the ‘Heads’ also gives us easy access to some of the best open-ocean training available.
A paddling community
SOCCI is more than just a group of paddling enthusiasts though, we’re a family. We look out for one another and we’re always there to help, encourage and support each other.

- Friendship – Strong relationships on and off the water make the sport more fun, and crew perform better
- Respect – Respect for each other, for the boats and equipment, and for the ocean. We get a lot from the ocean and we feel it’s our responsibility to look after her in return.
