In our most local race this year, it wasn’t the other teams our heroic crews were trying to beat, but the weather.

The protected waters of the inner Harbour were uncharacteristically choppy, not helped by the strong winds and torrential rain, but the waters in-between Middle Head and North Head saw some of the biggest swells Sydney has seen for years. Sadly not dramatic footage of that though as we were too scared to watch!

Despite horizontal rain and waters more in keeping with Hawaii that Sydney, our mens crew came in 11th over the line and 7th in the their ‘Open’ category. If Teekay had been 2 months older they’d have placed third in Masters, so here’s hoping for some silverware next year bias!

Our masters women’s crew came in 10th place and our open mixed crew a very respectable 8th.

Well done to all the teams that competed from all over Australia as well as our international contingent from Asia and the Americas. Hopefully next year we’ll get better weather….
