One of the great things about outrigging is the people you get to meet.

With SOCCI being the oldest outrigging club in NSW and arguably having the best location in Sydney Harbour from which to paddle, we get a lot of visitors to Australia requesting they come down paddle with us while they’re here.  Requests we’re always happy to oblige.

It made a nice change therefore to be in Los Angeles recently and to have the opportunity to meet up with some of our outrigging brothers and sisters from across the pond.

Some outrigging shirt swapping ensued, and perhaps a beer or two, but our Amercian hosts were every bit as accommodating as we are, reiterating what I’d long suspected, which is the people who outrig are possibly the nicest people you’ll ever meet.

Maybe a club trip to the USA could be on cards…..
